SILVER CARE CENTER
AN URBAN OASIS

The project aims to generate a new space in the city of Seoul that is able to shield the elderly people that suffer from geriatric illness such as dementia and stroke, from the URBAN CHAOTIC LIFE, the NOISE, the AIR POLLUTION and the URBAN HEAT ISLAND, typical of the dense urban fabric.
This space is designed to be an URBAN OASIS, well protected from the urban external agents, able to bring serenity and peace to the people in need who live inside it.
The building is pretected with a well insulated envelope that reflects the exterior agents (pollution and heat), generating an introvert system projected to the inner courtyard. This system is located above a glass entrance level, that ensures its connection to the city.
The introvert scheme is made of three different buildings. The bigger one is the medical care building that contains all the rooms and the services for the elderly people living in the structure. The second one is the medical visit building, with all the offices and the medical rooms. The last one, instead, is the welfere building, containing the program rooms where health prevention courses are held. The rooftops of the welfare and medical visit buildings are covered with green hortus and patches where to do open air therapies and cultivate plants and vegetables.

Not only the envelope is designed to insulate the building from the external agents, but even the planimetric distribution is set to reduce it.
The noise waves are strictly reduced when crossing throught the building. Infact, after the first layer composed by the facade system, they found a buffer corridor (2m) and then cross throught a service area composed by toilets and closets (2m), to arrive to the private rooms totally broken.
This stratigraphy system is thought to guarantee silence in the private areas like the rooms and the courtyard.

Our proposal is not a STANDARD BUILDING (1), but is a well insulated system (2) that prevents the noise, air pollution and the urban chaos to cross throught inside the building.
The system allows the guests in need to receive appropriate cures in the medical care (3) building , to get a medical visit (4) in the building of the offices, to do health prevention in the WELFERE (5) building or simply to use the exterior areas, like the courtyard and the hortus, to relax and cultivate. So, It is a real urban OASIS (7)!
